Frequently Asked Questions

In the Post-COVID world, we are very conscious of health and privacy issues.  Nearly all court processes and settlement conferences are now also held remotely.  Your meetings with your attorney will generally be via online videoconferencing for both your safety and for your convenience.

I’ve never worked with a lawyer before… where do I begin?

The first step to moving forward with legal representation is to schedule an initial consultation with one of our three attorneys. You may do so by calling our office at (206) 452-5483. Our office is open during traditional business hours.

How much time will I need with a lawyer?

The initial consultation for a family law matter is $200 and lasts approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. For estate planning, adoptions, and dependency issues, we offer a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation.

These first meetings are important because they will help both you and the attorney get a better understanding of your case so that they may provide you with effective legal advice. After a quick and confidential conflict check, we can move forward with scheduling the consultation and compassionately help you with the legal process.

After your initial consultation, we will have a better estimate of the time we will need to complete your case, barring unforeseen developments or circumstances, and the range of possible costs depending on outcome. When unexpected issues arise, we will notify you of their implications and work with you every step of the way to make sure your priorities are being met.
